1️⃣ Job Role

The Backend Developer at MeDic AI will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance server-side systems that power Africa’s AI-driven healthcare platform. This role focuses on developing APIs, managing databases, integrating AI models, and ensuring seamless communication between the frontend, mobile apps, and cloud infrastructure. The Backend Developer will play a critical role in delivering reliable healthcare management tools for doctors, hospitals, and patients across Africa.

2️⃣ Responsibilities

The Backend Developer will design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services to support doctor, patient, and appointment management systems. They will integrate AI-powered features such as symptom analysis, medical image processing, and automated treatment recommendations into the core platform. The role includes database architecture design, performance optimization, security implementation (including patient data protection and compliance), cloud deployment, system monitoring, and troubleshooting. Collaboration with frontend developers, AI engineers, and product teams is essential to ensure smooth feature delivery and system scalability.

3️⃣ Requirements, Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidate must have strong experience in backend technologies such as Node.js, Python (Django/FastAPI), or similar frameworks, along with solid knowledge of database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), API security, authentication systems, and healthcare data protection standards is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, clean code practices, and experience building scalable systems. A minimum of 2–4 years of backend development experience is preferred, with prior work on health-tech, AI-driven platforms, or high-availability systems considered a strong advantage.
